Hello Jesse,
Your site is a wonderful source of information. I am currently working through the beginning stages of Crystalline glazing and firing with our Community College studio and we are interested in the Geil Kiln you have discussed, (JH 10). Have not found any current information on the Geil site re pricing or availability. do you have an update on that? Also wanted to see if you are still feeling good about the L&L kiln? That looks to be a good way to enter the arena. Thanks for your time, we appreciate all of your effort.

Hey
Hope things are going well.
I am just getting our booth built for the Summer Sawdust Festival. Scott is staying up in Monterey. He taking summer college classes, and working as a union meat cutter.
I re-wired two kilns by purchasing 14 guage A1 wire, doing the twisting and installing myself.

call me when you get some time

HI JESSE, I MEET YOU AT THE FREDRICH-GEIL WORKSHOP ON CRYSTAL GLAZES IN 2006. I TOO AM INTERESTED IN THE JH 10. I CURRENTLY HAVE A GEIL 802 MEDIUM DUTY, 8CU FT. I DON'T NEED THE 32 RAMP, 8 RAMPS IS ENOUGH. I DON'T DO CRYSTAL NOW, BUT I WANT THE CAPACITY TO DO IN THE FUTURE. 2ND ISSUE, WOULD A ELECTRIC KILN WITH A RAMP CONTROLLER BE CURRENT STATE OF THE ART? IF SO DO YOU HAVE A RECOMMDATION OF A GOOD MANAFCUTURE. THANKS, DAVID PORRAS

The kiln itself is ready. They've even few test firings using Geil's current 8 ramp computer controller -and it performed great. All the glazes came out wonderfully (see the lidded crystalline jar by Kris Friedrich above).
Some people have already purchased the new 10 cubic foot Geil (JH10), or a slightly larger sized kiln with the current controller.
They are still working on the latest computer (32 ramps, touch screen control, etc) however, so other people are waiting on it before buying.
